Happy December!

It's December and my favorite month of the year is here! It's going to be a crazy month as I have a lot of things on my plate but this year I am going to slow down and enjoy every day!
I have a Monday Open Studio tomorrow, plus my December online class just launched. I head to Ventura tomorrow for a three day retreat and when I come home it will be time to start cooking for our annual party. I need to cook enough food for 300 people! The party invitations have already gone out but I have done nothing about our family Christmas cards. I need to get on that soon!

My kids will be home on the 16th and 19th and that's when the most fun starts. I cannot wait ...

The "trailer" above was created from all of the videos from my December online class. I love creating these videos for the class but the editing takes about 15 hours for each one. It's a labor of love!

I hope you all will enjoy this month as much as I intend to!

I just finished painting this painting and it is the demo for my December online painting class. It took me all day to complete as I find it is much harder to paint when you have to think and talk! There is something about filming a demo that causes me to paint slower! I absolutely love this paintings and look forward to finding a wonderful home for it. What a great painting to pull out every year and display with your holiday decorations!

If you would like to learn how to paint this painting then sign up for my online classes. You can sign up for the December class or all twelve months (and enjoy a special discount). Plus, you can watch the videos over and over as you will have access to the classes for one year! Click here to find out more about my online classes.

Finally, don't forget my 2015 calendars are on sale. Click here to purchase.

Painting Flowers

"Blue Hydrangeas"
Oil, 12" x 12"

At last week's Monday open studio we painted hydrangeas. I set up the still life using one of my older vases and used my $5 clip on light from the hardware store as the light source. The background is a  white posterboard but I love how the flowers cast so many incredible shadows! I think it's what makes the painting!

Looking Ahead to 2015

It's that time of the year when I get to look back at my paintings for the year and choose the twelve that I think should be included in my annual calendar. It's always fun to look back at all of my paintings! I must say the paintings from the 30 in 30 Challenges and the ones painted at my workshops are by far my favorites!
My calendar is available for purchase. It makes a great holiday gift and you can purchase one here!

Painting with Friends in Charlotte

"Colorful Boats"
Oil, 24" x 36"

I spent last week in Charlotte teaching an amazing workshop! We painted four painting in three days, including a large one! It was an incredibly productive workshop and we had so much fun! This painting is the demo I completed in class. It's 24" x 36" and I love it! (Of course it's still in Charlotte drying and waiting to be shipped!).

I will post the other paintings from the workshop in the next few days. I am back in Ventura (which is becoming my favorite place in the world) spending five days with another amazing group of artists. Those paintings will follow soon too!
